My name is Tatiana Kecskemeti, and I’m the designer behind Cross Stitching Art, an independent cross-stitch design studio based in Canada.
I create elegant, fantasy-inspired patterns — ladies, fairies, and muses — each drawn with couture fashion details and flowing, expressive movement. My designs are stitched by people all over the world, and I’m endlessly inspired by the community of stitchers who bring them to life with needle and thread.
How did you get into cross stitch?
I started cross-stitching when I was very young — it began as a quiet creative hobby and soon became a lifelong passion. Over time, I wanted to tell my own stories through stitching, so I began illustrating and designing my own patterns.
What started as a hobby quickly grew into a full creative business that I now run with my husband’s help, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey.
What do you enjoy most about cross stitching?
I love how meditative and transformative it feels. Watching a design slowly come to life, stitch by stitch, is magical — both for me as a designer and for the people stitching my patterns. It’s a craft that teaches patience and celebrates beauty in every detail.

Where do you get your inspiration from when designing cross stitch patterns?
My inspiration comes from fashion, art, and fairy tales. I often describe my style as fantasy couture — a blend of storytelling and elegance. Flowing gowns, luminous lighting, and expressive poses are at the heart of my work. I want every design to feel like it could step off the fabric and into a dream world.
How do you use Stitchly in your design workflow?
Stitchly has become a key part of my creative process. I love how naturally it fits my way of designing — I can use my stylus pen when I’m sketching on my tablet, and it truly feels like drawing directly onto the fabric. When I’m on my iPhone, I can simply use my fingers to zoom in and refine delicate details, like facial features or fine outlines.
That flexibility and the touchscreen experience make designing feel fluid, intuitive, and much closer to the art of hand drawing — something I’ve never felt with traditional, mouse-based software.

What stands out compared to other tools you’ve used?
Stitchly feels modern, thoughtfully designed, and truly built with both stitchers and designers in mind. It’s not just functional — it’s enjoyable to use. The workflow feels natural, the visual clarity is excellent, and it bridges that gap between artistry and precision that’s so important in professional cross-stitch design.
I also really appreciate how responsive the team is — both Harry and Charlotte have been wonderful to communicate with. Harry is genuinely open to feedback, and it’s amazing to see how quickly new improvements appear in the program. Stitchly always feels fresh, evolving, and made with real care for its users.
Which feature do you find most useful?
I especially love Stitchly’s clean interface and how easy it is to visualize symbols and color blocks accurately. The ability to zoom, check stitch placement, and ensure clarity in complex areas saves me a lot of time. For a designer, that precision and control are invaluable.
